COLOR AND LIGHT THERAPY Written by Cheryl M. Deroin, NMD |

Light and color has been used in many ancient medical
systems, including those of the Egyptians, Greeks, Chinese and
Native Americans. Light exhibits the unique ability to enhance physical
healing, but can also affect psychological and spiritual healing.
According to physicist, David Ohm, “all matter is a
condensation of light into patterns moving back and forth at average speeds
which are less than the speed of light. Light is energy and it is also
information - content, form and structure. It is the potential for
everything." |

When light enters the eye it not only goes into the visual
centers of the brain but also to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the
major collecting station for all the information from the external and internal
environment. The stress response is initiated within the hypothalamus, the
body’s biological clock is housed in the hypothalamus, and many of our immune
functions are directed form the hypothalamus. It controls the autonomic nervous
system and the pituitary, which affects the rest of the endocrine glands.
Information from the hypothalamus is passed on to the pineal gland that produces
melanin. Melatonin is released based on darkness or lightness. Individual
cells in the body respond to this information from the pineal and hypothalamus
and use it to organize their internal function and synchronize themselves with
Mother Nature. Hence, light affects the human being at a cellular level and
creates a relationship between our environment and us. Disease is frequently
caused by the breakdown of a relationship, either within us, with the external
environment, or with one another. |
| Individuals such as Edwin Babbit, Dinshah P. Ghadiali, Harry
Riley Spitler, M.D., Peter Mandel, N.D., and Dr. John Ott have developed many
different devices or methods of healing using light and color. They were all
based on the principle that the body is surrounded by an energy field which when
imbalanced could lead to disease, but could be rebalanced using different
tonations of filtered lights. When the body is in a normal state of
homeostasis, it has more potential for filtering from the white light or
sunlight whatever color vibration it needs. However, if a person is not in good
health, being exposed to the colors they may be lacking will assist in moving
the body towards homeostasis. Light draws blood to the skin, relieves
congestion of vital organs, such as the liver, spleen, lungs, stomach,
intestines, and spinal cord. All vital organs have direct connection with the
skin through the blood vessels. Application of light rays in one spot can
affect the entire bloodstream through circulation and elimination of toxins.
Light therapy such as Esogetic Colorpuncture created by Peter Mandrel, N.D. not
only balances the physical body but also is designed to expand self-awareness
and gently release any traumas, emotional scars, and negative beliefs that are
held in the body and may be obstacles to healing. |
|
Light is a gentle,
non-invasive, pain-free therapeutic that affects the whole person and allows an
individual to experience a greater understanding of their strengths and
weaknesses and the unconscious processes that block their potential for healing. |
