Colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the United States with cancer of the colon being found more often in women and rectal cancer in men.
The incidence rises after age 40 and peaks about age 65 to 70. Persons who are blood group A or AB are at a higher risk to develop colorectal cancer because of the nature of the A blood group antigen.
If found early, the survival rate increases with the prognosis being poor if it has spread. |
A screening test for fecal occult blood will help detect the presence of colorectal cancer and can be done through our lab. Cost of the test is $25.00 for the recommended 3 samples.
