The cold and flu season is upon us, if you haven't already experienced it. So before you rush
out and get a flu shot, or purchase one of the numerous over-the-counter medications, here are some simple steps to help in the prevention or to reduce the severity of a cold or the flu.
Decrease considerably your food consumption; go on a semi fast by using only soups, salads,
vegetables or fruits if you feel hungry. Do not overeat as this will make it harder to get over the cold or flu.
Increase your fluid intake. This does not mean
coffee, soft drinks or beer, but rather hot soups, fruit or vegetable juices and herbal teas.
Rest! Yes, this means you! Dare to take a day off of work, watch a video, read or just sleep. |
Take Oscillococcinum or Flu Solution @ 1/2 tube every 8 hours for 3 doses at the first sign of illness.
Garlic @ 1 clove, chopped and taken with water. Do this 3 times per day and no self-respecting microorganism will get close to you.
Yarrow tea @ 1 to 2 cups, 2 to 3 times per day with a little honey and lemon.
Vitamin C @ 3-5,000 mg per day in divided doses as a preventive, which should be started now. Increase to 5-8,000 mg/day if you are under the weather.
If you do not respond within 48 to 72 hours, then a follow up visit with your physician is probably needed. |
